Introducing the Rimbey Royals

Rimbey Royals Junior Hockey Club

Where community, opportunity, and junior hockey come together

Joining the Heritage Junior Hockey League for the 2026 to 2027 season

The Rimbey Royals Junior Hockey Club are bringing competitive junior hockey to the Town of Rimbey and the Blindman Valley area. Starting in the 2026 to 2027 season, the Royals will play in the Heritage Junior Hockey League. We love this game, and we love this community. The Royals are not just a team. We are building a place where players can grow, families can feel proud, and game nights feel like something you look forward to.

Junior hockey in Rimbey, fast, competitive, and built for the whole community.

Why Rimbey

Rimbey is the kind of town where hockey is part of the rhythm of life. Kids grow up around the rink, families show up for each other, and the minor hockey foundation in the area runs deep. With a strong base in the community and the wider Blindman Valley, there is real pride here and real support for the game. Add an arena that can hold up to 1,000 fans, training resources right in town, and people willing to roll up their sleeves to make it happen, and junior hockey simply fits here.

Our vision

We want the Rimbey Royals to be a place where athletes get better, where the community feels connected, and where fans feel like they belong.

We are here to compete with purpose and represent Rimbey with pride, on the ice and off the ice.

What we stand for

This is what we expect from our players, coaches, and staff, and what you can expect from us.

  • Respect for the game, teammates, and opponents
  • Work ethic and accountability
  • A team first mindset and loyalty
  • Leadership growth on and off the ice
  • Integrity, communication, and sportsmanship

Proudly built in Rimbey

Rimbey is a hockey town. The community has supported the game for years, and the youth programs have a strong track record. The Royals were created to give local and regional athletes a junior opportunity closer to home, and to give fans exciting, affordable hockey they can bring the whole family to.

Watch the Royals on FloHockey

We know not everyone can make it to every game. That is why Royals home games will be streamed on FloHockey, so you can follow the team through the season from anywhere.

If you cannot make it to the rink, you can still stay with the team all season long through FloHockey.

Why streaming matters for fans and families

    • Keep up with the Royals even when you are out of town or busy on a game night
    • Follow the season and stay connected, even if you cannot be in the building
    • Share the team with friends and family who live outside the area

The HJHL’s media setup is tied into FloHockey and the HockeyTech platform that connects game information with team and league websites and the league app.

Why it helps players and sponsors too

    • Players: game video makes it easier to review, learn, and share your play
    • Sponsors: your brand can be seen beyond the rink on game broadcasts
    • Everyone: a consistent broadcast makes the whole program feel more professional

Pathways for players

We care about development. We are not only looking for the most polished player today. We are looking for players who want to work, learn, and get better. Our focus is on identifying potential, supporting late bloomers, and developing athletes from U17 to U21 in a way that helps them move forward. We aim to give players exposure and guidance toward college, university, senior hockey, and other next steps.

Tryouts and player recruitment

This is a program built for players who want to grow, compete, and earn their opportunity.

If you are a U17 to U21 player who is serious about improving, we would love to talk. We are building a development first environment with clear standards, honest feedback, and a culture that expects effort every day.

Recruitment follows league guidelines and the conditions that apply to new teams, so if you are unsure if you qualify, just ask and we will walk you through it.

A home away from home

Billet families are the backbone of junior hockey. When a player has a safe and supportive home base,
everything else gets easier. Our billet families help players stay focused on hockey, school, and becoming good people.

We value strong relationships between players, billets, and the community. That is a big part of who we want to be.
