Medicine Hat Dynamic Industrial Cubs 8, Rocky Rams 1
The Medicine Hat Dynamic Industrial Cubs cruised to an 8-1 win over the Rocky Rams at Kinplex Arena on Friday night, with Cole Fisher factoring in on five of the Cubs’ eight goals.
Medicine Hat jumped out early, with Fisher opening the scoring just 43 seconds in, assisted by Colby Gulliver. Randen Collier made it 2-0 at 8:27 with what would stand as the game-winner, and Fisher struck again at 15:27 for an insurance goal, sending the Cubs into the first intermission up 3-0 while out-shooting Rocky 16-7.
The Cubs kept building in the second period. Jesse Klimosko scored at 6:19, Xzayden Beaverbones answered for Rocky just 23 seconds later — the Rams’ only goal of the night — and Medicine Hat responded with two power-play goals, from Brodie Heimbecker at 10:58 and Treyden Kleinknecht at 15:41, to take a commanding 6-1 lead into the third. Rocky was whistled for two bench minors for too many players over the first two periods.
Colby Gulliver and Brennan Finke each scored in the opening five minutes of the third to round out the 8-1 final, with Fisher picking up the lone assist on Gulliver’s goal to finish the night with two goals and two assists. The game also featured a heavy penalty third period, including a four-minute spearing major to Rocky’s Riley Roberts and a flurry of roughing minors in the final minute.
Medicine Hat goaltender Hudson Corbett made 15 of 16 saves for the win. Rocky’s Maddyn McCrindle faced 50 shots, stopping 42.
