By Noel Edey:
The Cochrane Generals are gunning for their 10th straight win to kick off the new year.
But the HJHL’s top-ranked Sylvan Lake Wranglers are standing in their way tonight at the SLS Centre.
The challenge doesn’t let up Saturday, when the Strathmore Wheatland Kings — nipping at Cochrane’s heels — visit for a 7:15 p.m. faceoff. Tonight’s puck drops at 8.
The Gens wrapped up 2025 with a 3-2 win over the Ponoka Stampeders, setting a new club record for consecutive wins.
Still, the road ahead is anything but easy. With 10 regular-season games left, the South Division race is tight: just three points separate second through fifth, and Cochrane faces all of those contenders — several of them twice.
